Streetside Shade Tree

The Shade Tree Commission has exclusive custody and control of the shade trees in the borough and is authorized to plant, remove, maintain and protect shade trees on the streets and highways in the borough and is further granted all other powers as set forth in the Act of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Act No. 581 of February 1, 1966, PL 1965. However, they are also the responsibility of the property owner. Permission must be
sought before removing any streetside tree. If a hazard exists, the borough may order the tree removed. Any tree removed must also have the stump removed.

Snow Removal

Heavy snowfall is always a problem. It would be helpful when a storm is imminent if larger parking areas are kept free by grouping cars together. In this manner, the plow can clear large spots at once. As areas are cleared, cars can then be moved to allow clearing of the remainder of the street. Snow may not be thrown on the street. The street department appreciates your cooperation. Snow is removed on the same schedule as street sweeping.

Sidewalks

Who is responsible for the sidewalk in front of my house?
The owner of the property is responsible for the sidewalk on the property. The borough regulates the types of sidewalk surfaces permitted, stipulates where sidewalks shall exist, and may order that repairs be made. But the property owners is always responsible for any necessary repairs to the sidewalks.

Parking Regulations

Every block is marked with 'No Parking on....' except the hill section of town. Those streets have 'No Parking' on Wednesdays. The policy is in force all year long. The only days it is not enforced are federal holidays. It is not a "street sweeper" policy, in the fall it's used for leaf pickup, in the winter snow and christmas tree removal.
